How We Express Ourselves

The first grade IB Planner Theme for this month is "How We Express Ourselves." The central idea is that humans have many ways to express their ideas, imagination, and emotions through their words and actions. Our specific IB inquiries for this planner involve making inferences about character traits, and using voice, facial expressions, and body movements.

In February, our class enjoyed three sessions with a Young Audiences drama coach and storyteller. Those visits helped to develop your child’s expressive speaking skills, dramatic skills, and oral presentation skills. Our field trip to see the stage show at the Main Street Theater was also in support of this Planner. Of course, your child’s participation in our April stage performance will be the culminating activity for this IB Planner.
